I use log envirobase but it'd a bit expensive for a DIY job. Plus waterbase is a pita if ur not familiar with it. I would recommend ppg solvent if u decide on the silver but ppg omni if u go with the calypso or red. Just be warned if its ur first complete paint job, stay away from silver as it very hard to shoot properly and even harder to clear it without leaving marks. Good luck on your adventure. -
NO I didn't!
So PPG. The only auto paint store near me is Sherwin Williams and it's full of tools. They have zero customer service and act as if they are Gods and customers are peasants.
I will stop by a few shops and see what they say or where they buy from.Leave a comment:

You used an apostrophe in "want".I know there is a paint n body section but I figured this was a general question so not being sure where to put it, it's here.
I know I can't afford the paint that BMW used but I would like something closed to it's old quality.
I've got my sterling silver 318iS down to 3 colors. This will be a full respray down to the interior and engine bay so Im going to need a good gallon before reducers/activators. My budget is around $500 or less. That's just for the base.
The old sterling is being ripped off now and the base for the colors will be black for more depth. 'Cept the SS red, not sure about that one.
Calyso -What paint are you guys using for the metalics?
Sterling
SS Brilliant Red -What paint are you guys using for the single stage?
I am leaning towards urethane but any base and clear that will last will do as I would rather be able to color/wet sand anyway for a mirror finish.
I will be using a standard deVillbiss 1.3mm gun. Hasn't let me down before and I've become very accustomed and skilled with this bad boy.
Opinions welcomed
Cheers

PPG is pretty user friendly and not super expensive.
I would suggest going to your local auto paint store and talk to them. Tell them ypur skill level and your goals and budget. They can set you up with what will work.Leave a comment:
