Ya, apparently Zinno was a single stage. I should be good to polish everything up. The old paint on the car must have been a respray as it DID have peeling clear coat....

I don't believe our cars have a clear coat so it's possible that it wasn't part of the respray. Of course, bad prep could be the culprit in which case your best bet is to take it back or do your best with polish.

To get the best result I would block it with some 600, then hit it with a couple more coats of color. Then clear it and done.

    started a topic Paint gurus.....

    Paint gurus.....

Long story short my car was painted about 10 months ago. I don't know anything other than the base coat was done. IDK if clear was applied...but I do know there are many places that will need to be sanded....some runs, some orange peel....so I'm assuming clear was not done.

Since it's been so long....would I be okay to just prep the surface I have now, then spray clear?

Or am I screwed and will need to knock it back and apply another base coat?

I know how to apply the paint/clear....but the procedure part gets me. Did an auto-body class years ago but never really got to apply any of it.
Working...
