Probably because a lot of aftermarket fiberglass parts are thin and wavy junk...

Exactly. Mine is nearly perfect. Actually, even after being hit several times, the fiberglass has NO damage. It is seriously the best made fiberglass piece I've ever seen.

The front, yeah, those things are... interesting.

The real BMP pieces were notoriously wavy so I would not assume it isn't real just because it is wavy.

The front has a metal bar that goes inside across the front and I think the rear has one too, I assume it is to help spread the load of a crash. But these pieces were designed for early models and if I remember correctly they did not mount with bumper shocks because they were originally designed for track cars.

Are your exhaust tips too big or was it just at the wrong spot? I've got dual 3" tips that fit fine.
If yours fit that well, then I might have to buy a new one from BMP. I think it's a first generation bumper from BMP, but I can't guarantee as i bought it used.

I had to enlarge the exhaust spot. I've got dual 3" tips as well and had to rework it to make it fit. From BMP's site, it now says it fits 3" tips though.

    BTW: nice black E21!

it could just be standard fitment. Any difference in sheet metal between series 1 and 2 valances/rears? could explain the slight difference in width, or its just a poor production.

fit seems up to par with any non-oem body piece. expect that out of any piece, old or new.

How much did you pay for shipping on yours? If I pay online, it gives me a shipping quote of $240 freight, which is absurd. I've got an older one (mounting brackets are not integrated with the bumper) and I'm seriously considering buying a newer one hoping the fitment issues are solved.

Honestly, it looks like shit!. Are you sure you have it mounted correctly? You should not have to cut relief spots anywhere. Are you sure it is a true BMP piece? Sounds sketchy at best.
