sorry, there's been a delay in some parts I need; I'm also re-doing the suspension so I just sent my struts out to also get powered. once I get those back hopefully I'll also get my parts in too and can start up again. as soon as I do I'll be putting up the finished product. thanks again!Leave a comment:

As I said, people have their own personal agenda. I have built my share of cars in the past; I did enjoy all. some I built up more then others; I am not contesting what you are saying. there is great pleasure in knowing you did all the work because there is a sense of pride that comes with it. However, everything is a learning experience and we should grow from them. it goes without saying that I was bothered by the sloppy work. that is why I back tracked and double checked to make sure it was going to be ok. As for the colors..I chose them for me and not other people. I realize not everyone is going to agree, and I'm sure I feel the same of others work. But at least I respect others decisions.. :-)Wait a second. Your telling me you dropped of a complete head to your powdercoater so that he can put it in an oven and bake it at twice its designed operating temperature for 30 minutes? So pretty sketch. Oh and i'd scrap that cam gear and toss in one of those $30 ebay ones.
I'd rather drop $15k+ in to an e30 then buy a new toyota corolla or something. You have to look at it as not an invest to appreciate in value but as one that will never depreciate more then it already has. So any money you put in to it now is for your sheer enjoyment. I don't know about you but i can't put a price cap on that.

Strangely enough nobody mentioned that I was missing a tab on the front of the timing sprocket. the A-HOLE that did the powder coat must have dropped it. Won't be going back to him again. Luckily I was able to pull one off my spare.

give it a rest buddy...to each their own...A roll of tape and some shop rags would cost maybe $30, not a few thousand. Who painted it, and did you pay them? With out a working motor your $10,000 paint and body job wont be seen by anyone because it wont move anywhere. yes you can probably get away with leaving the paint where it is, or cleaning it up, but why not just do it right the first time? If you or the person who painted your motor cut corners this obviously during painting I would hate to see the other short cuts. If it is not worth doing right the first time it is not worth doing at all. Why do such sloppy work, post it up for R3V to see, and then react negatively when people point out it was sloppy? You know it was sloppy, the person who did it knows it was sloppy, and we know it was sloppy. Did BMW paint the insides of their engines? Has any other car manufacturer? I dont think so. There is probably a good resin not to paint the inside of a motor.Leave a comment:

Getting closer!! injector loom is in place, heater hose and brackets are bolted on along with the main harness looms. as I said before, I don't plan on taking pics of each and every single step along the way. I simply don't have the time and know how time consuming it is. I just threw this thread up to show what I've been doing. So please don't criticize my work as everyone has their own "version" of what is appropriate or looks appropriate. I never planned to pleasing anyone with my work. Only myself. thx.Leave a comment:

I just think that the motor is one place you should really do everything right, and not cut any corners. If you had posted up a thread asking how best to paint the motor and so on, I would have been more then happy to offer some very constructive comments and insights. I have done all this work my self and know exactly how hard it is, and how much can go wrong. I also spent a long time researching how to do it "right," what not to do, and so on. As for doing things right, you're right...but where does it stop? I personally think the whole car/bodywork is the place one shouldn't cut corners and do everything right..yet do people do it? nope..do you know how many shit cans I have seen that people have said they've done what they said they've done and DIDN'T. Also people have a budget to work within. at the end of the day; I am not going to put 15k into my maybe 5k car just to make it "right." Do you have that coin available on hand to "make it right?" I do, but I am not willing to fork out that coin..cause in the end...it still is a 3-5k car and that's what it will always be. now if we were talking 1970 chevelle with a LS6. then I would do EVERYTHING right. because we all know what that car would be worth afterward. :-)

Paint doesn't affect the performance nor will anyone see this when the motor is together. Keep in mind...paint thins and will eventually burn off from heat, fuel and combustion - contrary to what you think.... If you don't like my work or have nothing but negative things to say...you don't have to comment. I have posted a few picks in a couple thread...BUT!!! since you aren't really keen on what I have to show or explain...it REALLY doesn't matter does it????:DLeave a comment:

I'm a pretty thorough guy..I just can't speak for other people doing work for me. That was a mistake, I admit it -leaving it to incompetence -lesson learned. :-)

Here they are; Intake and power steering pump is back on and just cosmetically mounted the throttle body and therm housing.
