First off, it is the intake gasket side. low pressure. Using a little gasket sealant plus the new gaskets won't cause you any leaks.
the valve stems don't have any paint on them high enough to affect the valve seals etc. the valve seats also don't have paint on them. BUT YOU KNEW THAT ALREADY DIDN'T YOU???? YEAH YOU DID!!! and just to satisfy your curiosity. My machinist looked it over and told me that if I really want to I could get some lacquer thinner and clean them up but he said it will be fine.
Also, what is being "sucked" up into the engine? you have intake, which comes from the fuel delivery system which is air tight. Two, you have compression, again air tight. Burn off upon combustion which means anything in the chamber will be burned off and out the exhaust.
So, please tell me what your point is? Again!!! READING EXPANDS THE MIND...CLEARLY THERE IS A LITERACY PROBLEM ON THIS THREAD!
and to finally finish this silly discussion....this isn't the first time I've done this...

top end build = you take pics along the way. Not shit you did a horrible paint job on. Paint doesn't affect performance? Enlighten me with your engine building expertise. How come having paint on anything that seals is going to cause a bad seal, but having paint on the intake ports and valve stems is 'not affecting performance'?I am not going to show you every valve going into the head etc. As for your comments about the holes? Maybe you should thoroughly read my post. READING DOES EXPAND THE MIND!!! Paint doesn't affect the performance nor will anyone see this when the motor is together. Keep in mind...paint thins and will eventually burn off from heat, fuel and combustion - contrary to what you think.... If you don't like my work or have nothing but negative things to say...you don't have to comment. I have posted a few picks in a couple thread...BUT!!! since you aren't really keen on what I have to show or explain...it REALLY doesn't matter does it????:D
Also, why do you want paint to get sucked up into the engine?Leave a comment:

why did you just take two second and stuff some rags down them holes? really messy shit job sorry to say.
and where is the build, all i see is paint...Leave a comment:

Here are some more pics as I assemble...
Strangely enough nobody mentioned that I was missing a tab on the front of the timing sprocket. the A-HOLE that did the powder coat must have dropped it. Won't be going back to him again. Luckily I was able to pull one off my spare.
Well the main stuff is on and secured. Tomorrow, the intake, therm house, bolt up the wiring harness, the a/c bracket. more pics to follow.
I still need to finish up the lower part of the engine area; as I am waiting on control arms and figured it's easier to fasten the inner ball joint nut down while the engine mounts are out of the way. one mount was broken so I removed the brackets and got them also powdered black. Crossing fingers I get them in the next day or so.Leave a comment:

righteous!I have a sticker for the grille somewhere. but yeah that would be a good idea. otherwise I would have to get the golden arches stuck on somewhere. I also cleaned up the intake ports and gasket surfaces along with the valve stems so it should be all good going together. I had it checked by my machinist and he says it's a go!
keep up the photo-documentary

I am with you on this. but I wasn't me who did the job. Some other shlep.
the head isn't fastened down yet. So I am going to take it this morning to a machine shop to get it inspected to make sure everything is good before proceeding.
Yeah block would look good red and head aluminum also is a good combination.
thanks for the input fellas..Leave a comment:

I think the block could have been red and the head um not painted. I like aluminum it looks good.Leave a comment:

but the amount of time it would have taken to stuff some newspaper in the ports...really? were you really in that big of a rush....Leave a comment:

As long as the paint doesn't contact the valve stems.. it can come off with Lacquer thinner. yes a couple might have some on the seats. Again I'm debating whether I am going to disassemble it. but it doesn't hurt the valve ports. the heat and fuel will likely burn it off in time. As long as the valves seat and the stems move freely everything else is cool.Leave a comment:
