I've got an 87. Came with a busted DS window. The passenger side is intact with the pop out and a seal running the length of the the window. See here. 
Now I got a replacement window off an earlier model for the drivers side. I've still got the original trim, but it's jn a plastic window. (No comment) see the differences here. Earlier/replacement is on the right.
If I use the rubber trim from the replacement window that I pulled out of the junk yard, will this work? Is the 87 window trim an extra protection against water?
