Mr.
I have standard 14" weaves with no caps.Well, OP, seeing as you live in the same city as me...
This has been my safe haven for the past while. They have everything you could ever want, and prices are all pretty good. Just use the parts request and they'll either mail you a pair of kidneys or you can do the drive there.
Also what kind of wheels do you have? I may have seen you around...
nice, there isn't many people from Victoria on hereLeave a comment:

you speak no truth. use SEM trim paint and properly sand/clean the trim and it will last a long time. mine still looks fine after like 3 years.Leave a comment:

I don't think I would shadowline an e30 unless all of the chrome trim was already garbage. If you rattlecan it you are just setting yourself up to have to redo it at least once a year to keep it looking nice.Leave a comment:

Is there a trick to painting all the chrome trim black? any particular prep work required? My car is in the process of getting a re-spray. I was going to color-match the impact strips...
any thoughts?

I agree. It's up to the individual's taste.
I myself have decided that ALL of my Bimmers will have black grills. I just like it, and it provides a basic theme. Also, 35% tint, shadowline, lipo'd bumpers (if applicable) etc....Leave a comment:

The chrome surround is what makes the double kidney-shaped grille stand out. So while the use of chrome in and of itself may not be unique to BMW, its application serves a distinct purpose in this case which is to highlight a traditional design element.
To each his own.

being chrome though, is no bmw tradition. the shape and idea of the 'kidney' is, but the tradition of a chrome grills is a universal idea.
that would be like claiming its a bmw tradition to put their emblem on the hood.Leave a comment:

Mr.
haha well it was at the end of last year so its fineI prefer chrome, even with shadowline. There just wouldn't be enough contrast with everything including the kidneys being black. I think the chrome sets off the shadowline nicely. However, I definitely prefer shadowline to chrome trim, but for the kidneys, I'd keep them chrome.
Edit: Wow I just realized this thread is from last year. Shows how much I was paying attention. I promise I won't try to make any bondo cupholders. ;-)Leave a comment:
