I've installed a few Momo wheels and never had any problems until this one. Recently I installed my Momo wheel and now when I turn the wheel more than 5 degrees in either direction, the horn sounds until I return it to the perfectly straight position. To stop this, I pulled out the horn relay, but I'd like to have a functioning horn so I'm hoping you guys might have some info that helps.
The hub and horn are both Momo. As it is currently, I have the little wire which comes out of the hub connected to the prong on the back of the horn (there is only one prong, not two like I've seen on some aftermarket horn buttons). The contact ring which also has a prong coming out of it is present and sits between the hub spacer and steering wheel, then the horn button sits snugly into it. There is definitely contact being made between the spring loaded contact piece on the perimeter of the horn and the horn ring.
I have a powdercoated hub spacer in place and am wondering if this is causing the problem. I figured it wouldn't be a contact issue since the ring makes contact with the wheel and the wheel makes contact with the hub via the fastening screws, but I could be wrong. The car was originally equipped with an airbag wheel (SRS option verified through VIN), but the airbag was not connected, no airbag connector was present when the wheel was removed and I have no aibag light illuminated now that I am running the Momo wheel.
Thanks for any help or suggestions!
