I don't know why my dash cracked, the vinyl was always soft and I used maguires vinyl stuff on it and I always used a sun visor and even parked the car so the sun won't come in through the side windows even though they are tinted. I guess it is because I started running the heater since I've been driving to work in the morning.
For *preserving*, I've had very good luck with Zymol Vinyl. I'll tackle the dash this weekend I think, the general idea is to shoot it with the Colorplus flat black, so as to provide further UV protection.
I didn't see on here where you said what you were using to clean and preserve the dash with, but I use VinylX and have great results. Post up how the kit works for you.
i use the 303 protection spray and since i ran out not too long ago, im using griots stuff. even when using protection and a bloody sun visor doesn't prevent the dash from cracking.

We do this all the time with cracks on reciprocating airplane engine, cooling fins, It relieves the stress of the crack by removing any sharp edges for the crack to continue on. Should work. Drill n' Fill!
Drifters use this as well, to stop further cracking on the fiberglass of their already destroyed bodykits.
It held a broken Rieger lip for another 8 months before someone deemed it un-usable and tossed it without my consent >.<
going to order it today, something has been up with their freakin website, i couldn't get past the cart for whatever reason. i just emailed them, so will place order today 100%
I've had very good luck with these guys' products: http://www.colorplus.com/ . I have yet to tackle a dash but I'm sorely tempted (don't tell the Gutenparts crowd!).
