I like the work Joshzilla. Just seems silly not to throw a regular black vinyl rear seat in there for now or something. Didn't know rear seats were so hard to come by, I've thrown a few away.Leave a comment:

I'll get some pics of it in the car soon, it still needs a little fine-tuning here and there, but it works well and looks good in the car.Leave a comment:

I had the exact same idea. I have no reason for a rear seat, even though they're not insanely heavy. I prefer to have a shelf or a flat surface to place shit on.
I think I might try and make a mat to put down on top of mine. Kinda like a removable trunk carpet. But different.Leave a comment:

Finished making and wrapping the panels today, I ended up using 1/4" masonite and standard subwoofer carpet, using 3M spray adhesive. They came out really good, I might refine and make them again another time, but I was kind of on a time crunch with these. Hoping to get the car back from exhaust work mid-day tomorrow and get them fitted!

That looks like shit, it wouldn't look much better with carpet over it, either. I'm going for it looking like this:

just curious but why not use cell material and cover with carpet - less weight adn gives a similar smooth look. Info is here:

Oh I know, the only thing is then I'll be left with almost a full sheet of it, and it will just be waste, I don't need it for anything else.
I'll check the Re-Store tomorrow and see if they have any small pieces.Leave a comment:

A couple of reasons. I got rid of all my tan leather interior, leaving me with no rear seat. Then I had the stock MkII GTI Recaros, and the rear seat to match, but I didn't like the way the MkII seat looked in the back. So I got rid of the grey Recaros, and picked up a new set, which I'm going to have reupholstered in black fabric.
I want to find an M3 rear seat that needs to be recovered, so I can have it done to match. Until then, I'll have no rear seat, and this will look a lot better than just bare metal and wiring.Leave a comment:
