    E46 Armrest into E30 trouble shooting

    Hey guys,

    What would you say was your biggest struggle with the install? I'm having a tough time creatively lining the front of the assembly flush with the shifter console. Also, that triangular gap leaves a lot to be desired on the beginning of the sides of the armrest assembly.

    Thanks,
    ///Arash

    Are cupholders really that rare? I have them in my 87 is. It doesn't really rattle around, the arm rest is self does slide a bit, but its just 4 bolts holding it on.

    I would like to see more pics of E36 armrests installed. Would cutting a U around the bottom be possible to make it fit around the transmission hump better?

    This is not a bad idea. I have the original E30 center arm rest and it’s somewhat annoying with the rattling cup holder that only holds one cup comfortably.

    lol - actually the switch is for the sunroof - got sick of reaching up to press the button on the roof - so moved it down to the console. Never did get around to doing the power window install :(

    My E30 actually came with it installed, its just mounted with the stock E36 plastic block. I'll try and get some pics of just the mounting block for you guys...

    /\ What did you use to make it so it wouldn't be all over the place. It doesn't look mounted at all.

    Pics as promised...my whole center plus armrest use to be tan..but I swapped the black one from my M3 in there. I can't decide if i want a black or tan armrest.

    My e46 ones are very good in my e46 wagon. Much better than the e36 ones were.

    Also I would like to see a write up for the install above. Its the best one I have seen as well.
