    headlight switch resistor question

I was messing around with the late model headlight switch and found out the variation in resistance (to electricity flow) is registered by pins 2 and 6, and also 4 and 6. Readings are the same between 2 & 6 or 4 & 6. So, I guess these two pairs of pins control the intensity of cluster lighting and HVAC panel? Also, I have two of those switches, the one I removed from the car and a spare I had just in case. Both "act" the same way, meaning resistance is lowered as you turn the knob clockwise, but they give very different readings in the multimeter. One ranges from 60 to 30 ohm, the other from 12 to 2 ohm. But obviously they can´t both be working properly. Does anybody know what´s the correct range?
