Hi all. This is my very first post here as a former lurker. I have a rather strange phenomenon regarding the dimmer functionality in my car. Local BMW mechanic have loked at it without any success. If anyone knows anything it would be very appreciated.
Problem: Dimmer works for everything but the radio.
Background: Car is a '91 318is. Scandinavian (slightly different wiring as I've understood). I removed my aftermarket head unit and installed a Bavaria c reverse rds. Illumination works but there is always 12v on the illumination wire (red/grey). I assumed the dimmer would change the voltage on said wire. I took it to a shop and the mechanic couldn't solve it either. He said that he tried conencting the radio illumination directly to some other wire (i think it was hazard button). Still constant 12v. As I said earlier everything else works. So my queston is: Should there be constant 12v on the illumination wire (even though dimmer is "all the way down")?
