Lets see if these will fit - 6x9 in the doors.

    That is very interesting.
So you recommend the 4tc for loudspeaker cabling.
What do you recommend for interconnects (RCA's)?

Is this stuff price prohibitive in all but the very best installs?

I guess there's no reason to twist your own - just run it flat?

Read up on the history of ray Kimber and his "kable".

He invented noise reducing cables, totally turned the industry on its ear.

    EDIT: go read this: http://www.russandrews.com/viewindex...TRZHSBLSQSGZNW

Tore into the car tonite. Terrible job of wiring in the previous install. Don't know who did that one butran all the signal cables and spkr cables down the psgr side right where the power cable is for the battery. Butcher job to boot.

I'll take some pics in the morning.

Meant to say in previous post that the 'psgr' kick pa rl is just sitting there ready for glass. Have not started on the drivers kick yet.

Did get the drivers midbass baffle going and it's glueing.

Gonna Truro get all the wiri g done this weekend too

I agree, I want to give you guys (and me too) some more pics. Its been very difficult to get at the car all week. Did a little one night, but not worth taking a pic, thats for sure.

This weekend appears to be good for some work. I'll post if I get a chance to do some.

To re-iterate a little. I have to get alot more resin, some more mat and a good bit of duraglass to finish the kicks. Driver side is resined and just sitting there. I am waiting till funds are available, as my idea on subs will require some fiberglass too.

Focus is turning toward the 6" baffle in the driver's door. Wiring is coming next too. I picked up some wiring from Walmart. so I should have enough to do the car. I also want to replace the 5.25' (terrible - real cheap - aftermarket pioneers) that are currently housed in the stock locations with some better memphis audio 6.5 coaxials while running the 6.5 quart midbass. Requires the 4xs and another amp but that should not be a problem. This will allow better tunes while I wait to build the kicks, and also allow me to see how the midbasses are going to perform in the doors.

I bet thats strong. Sounds a little like duraglass bondo. your's better?

Havent been able to touch the car over the last couple days. Wont for a few more.
    Frustrating for sure.

    Two questions.
Looking for a speaker grills for my Quart .75" tweeters. Anybody have some laying around?

What speaker wire do ya'll recommend. I have used RF Riot Gamma twisted in the past, or just twisted some myself. But I'm running out and will have to get some more.
    Looking for recommendations.
Not exactly what I call "harden", but yeah.

As far as speaker wire goes, 99.999% of all of it is bullshit. I say Kimber/MIT kind of shit or just go to WalMart.

I so badly want good old Kimber 4TC in my car!

No. The shit from home depot is crap, the shit from West is seriously overpriced, and the same quality as Lowes.

Call around to your local auto body supply houses. Some have bulk ($35/gl or less!) or see if you can scrounge some "empty" 5 gallon buckets from a boat builder to drain into a bucket.

Learn the difference between laminating and finishing, too. I use laminating, but mix in chopped fibers and bondo to make a gooey slurry. Messy but awesome!

Thats what I did, iignite. I caught about half what the smart guys said and tried to replicate it.

Its going so-so, IMO. I think my ideas are sound, the execution so far has been a learning process for me. The fleece pulled away from the kickpanel some - THATS WHY THEY SAY STAPLE IT INTO PLACE. Now it has a bulge on the lower side of the mid. Should not be seen from the seats, but nevertheless a good learning point - hopefully not repeated where it counts.

More pics will follow I'm sure. I have slowed down for a couple reasons. Kids are back to school this week, the wife wants me around a little more (I had been hitting it pretty hard with the amount of time in the garage). Can't blame her, she's totally awesome.

Lastly, the resin I thought I had turned out to be aging ALOT faster than I imagined. Have not had it for long, but the cap was STUCK. Took channel locks to loosen it. Then it looked like one of those rocks with Crystals all it when I finally got the soft stopper cut out of the opening! Poured ok, but had some chunks. I used the rest on what you see above, and I need more....but I'm just flat broke. This economy is getting painful - for ALOT of people.

I'm going to turn my attention to the drivers side, and getting things ready for glass, as well as some wiring, or amp/processing installation. This doesn't cost me money, just time.
When I get some more funds, I'll try to get more resin, glass, and bondo - cause I plan to use some on sub installation as well. Sub install will likely be very last thing.

BTW, I like Canadian Car Audio's Forum - learned some stuff from those guys.

One question. I read that resin should be of the quality thats more like low weight (thin) golden engine oil - not molasses (the kind I had). Anybody have a good source for fiberglass products in the Atlanta area - I'm north of town?

yeah, you can stack wet glass if you wanna, just watch for bubbles that are caused by outgassing.

Been doing some reading up on fiberglassing. Looks like I need to go get some mat. I'm pretty sure I have cloth. Gotta check. Sounds like cloth is a bit tricky.

I've read that you resin the fleece and let cure before doing any glass, but what about in between layers of glass?

Do you let each layer setup before applying another?
