I have some questions regarding speakers too. I dont mean to hijack the thread, but I didnt want to create a new thread covering the same info.

I too am looking for some speakers as my project is coming to a finish. I have some stuff lying around in my house.

    I have a kicker zx750.1
two 10" solo barics in a box
pioneer head unit with three set of output
and a off brand 12 channel.

What i wanted to do was use the kicker and the 10s, as for bass (obviously) and wire the two channel amp for all 4 speakers (bridge the connection). I need speaker ideas fairly cheap like the ones posted above, or any suggestions on the above.

I know the equipment is meh at best, but i got it for free when I did another install. Any input is appreciated. again didnt mean to hijack.

I'm planning on putting some "decent" (<$90) coaxials in the rear to help with the midrange. Any suggestions?

Of course, there are good reasons not to install them in the rear housings also....pretty much complete overkill for the factory locations, especially since you really want to use something for 'rear fill' only back there....even with a matching set up front, these would easily 'overpower' them.
Rear fill debate in 3...2...1... GO!

I'm a big fan of rear fill regardless of what you have back there. To me it adds depth of stage and makes for a richer/more full sound.

NOT a fan at all. Never saw what all the excitement was about.

So, sell them. Especially here, in Seattle. People drool like retards, they fetch top dollar.
I respect you man, but I have to politely disagree.
And real focals are made in france, knock offs that the market is flooded with are made in China.
I am very happy with my k2Ps mids, ~300 wrms and daily abused with over 93db sensitivity - still going strong, and I like them a lot. But I paid $50 for a pair on CL :D

In regards to e30: it is more important to have a very solid mounting surface, e30 lacks that. I'd suggest making an adapter, I used plastic cutting boards from Target.

I also saw on the box that read Directed Electronics. Does anyone know if this is the same as DEI(Hornet/Viper/Ungo/etc.) that make the alarms?

It's crazy how so many audio companies have been bought/sold/merged/outsourced since the 80's.
yes it is the same company.

About the speakers: They Rock. Such crisp sound coming out of them, also they go pretty low. Im debating on whether or not to put a sub in because frankly these sound awesome. I am however going to get an amp to power these, they wash out real low cause mt head unit only puts out 22watts rms and the speakers call for a minimum of 45watts

Im going to get the PC 525c(http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...I_PC_525C.aspx) next for the fronts.

Precision power is the only thing going into my vehicles from now on!

Being as that they originally retailed for over $400, they compete very well with components in that price range also...getting them for under $80, well, you are almost stealing them.

BTW-I have a set of the 356CS components-same exact tweeter and crossover, but the mid is 6.5" instead of 5.25". They are brand new, in the box never opened. I was going to do an install in my E39 M5 but changed my mind, so these are up for sale. $130 shipped UPS ground if anyone is interested in putting these in a later model E30's door.

Bumping this as I got the PPI's in the mail today and upon initial observation was thoroughly impressed at every single aspect. Dare I say this has to be one of the best bang for the buck speaker components? Any other components that you can think of Luke in terms of bang for the buck?

I haven't hooked them up so I can't comment on the sound yet but everything else seems really solid. I'm just so attached to my Sparkomatic and Pyramid at the moment. I was going to buy Kenford or Rockwood but found these instead...

BTW, the ones I got (and I'm assuming the better Focal models) are made in France. I don't know if that's good or bad, or you can pay more for the competition made in Denmark.
