Well considering I've been without sound for a month already, I assume that my install is going to be of reasonable quality.

If it is really that much of an issue, just mount one crossover on the back side of the knee bolster, and the other in the glovebox. Also, don't aim the tweeters at the windshield, try to aim them off axis so the passenger side tweeter points to the driver, and the driver side to the passenger. It worked when I had the Diamonds. Experiment with different axis points to find which one sounds best.I retired my E30 for now...

Sweet, thanks. I'll try your advice. Infact, I even have all the stuff I need not to make the speakers work now, so I'll start experimenting.Moving sale: Everything Must Go!

tweeters, hers what i did to find the best place
i bought a pair of shitty ones frmo a hi-fi store, um about 3 pounds +- (they had crossovers) i hooked them to my radio and just ran the wires loose out thru the cubby and placed them on ym door, on the dash, on the roof, every where i could think of, in the end, for my music taste, i found i enjpoyed it most when they where dash mounted...
the end :)sigpic

Hot tip! You can also compensate for the midrange/tweeter distance to your ears not being totally equal when the tweeters are mounted in places like the A-pillar by wiring them in reverse polarity (gives 180 degree phase shift). This will effectively offset their output by a few milliseconds and can aid in getting rid of biasing problems that cause you to localize specific speaker placements, instead of just hearing the sound from the center of the dash with stereo effects. You want to hear the song played in front of you, not from the A-pillars and kick-panels...if you catch my drift.
Sometimes, simple things like this can often help you put speakers where you want them. This also works for subwoofers if you find them pulling the bass to the trunk and not playing in synch with the cabin speakers. Try it out, you'd be surprised how much of a difference it makes.I retired my E30 for now...
