OK, for those who are following this thread: Darrin has 2 dead E34 amps. I am gonna "mod" one so it will be seperate crossovers, but I am gonna replace some of the parts with better stuff so they handle more power/sound better.
The car is gonna come here and we will do a single 10 in a vented box and a 5 channel, or perhaps a mono amp and a 4 channel using the modded board to keep the front as a 3 way. All stock in the rear is the plan, too.
Currently the plan is to use Tang Band 3" in the dash, we will see how things play out.
The great E34 build is gonna happen this fall, hooray!

Just the speakers, I was under the impression that I didn't need the separate crossovers that came with the speakers since they are already built in to the factory amp.

OEM amps keep dying on me
This is actually in the e34, not the e30, but I thought I'd post it here. I've gone through 2 factory amps in as many months after installing some nice new 6.5" speakers and a head unit. Could these new components be killing the amp somehow?
