From what Ken told me about 11 months ago, I know that the amp/crossover combo that came in a car I bought is pretty good, although very old.
I need help finding the specs on this equipment. I emailed a/d/s, but they haven't replied yet. I finally yanked the whole system out, and here's what I have:
-a/d/s PH15 6-channel amp. Ken originally mentioned something like 60watts rms @ 4 ohms. Any other info?
-a/d/s 642CSi "Crossover, Signal Processor, Interface Adaptor".
-KLW Audio Image Enchance XA-23 Ambient Frequency Processor (attached to back of the 642CSi)
-MB Quart QM 210K, crossovers? Wired between the amp and the rear speakers. Only German on one, and mostly German/some English on the second:
"Original 12dB Frequenzweiche
Power handling 80/100W
Frequency range 35-32000Hz
Impedance 4ohm
Please pay attention to the alternative tweeter point!"
I also have two a/d/s S10 subwoofers (numbered 2060369, dated 1989).
I know practically nothing about car audio, except that new components are grossly overpriced. I would eventually like to have a very tight sounding audio system in my car. I care about quality over volume/huge bass. This system seems to have been installed around the time the car was bought new (1990). Is what I have still excellent quality by today's standards? Or am I better off selling this stuff to an old-school car audio aficianado and just buying new components? Thanks for any help at all. I'll try to get pics of everything this week.
