    Metalic smell from new subwoofers

Possibly burning? Please excuse my ignorance when it comes to stereo's.

    I have a Sony XM-2002GTW powering two Boss CX124DVC's

    Here's their specs:

    Sony XM-2002GTW

    • Max power output: 1200 watts x 1 chan.
    • MOSFET power supply
    • Tuned Bass EQ (0-10 dB)
    • Tri-way capable (Tri-Way crossover required)

    • RCA level inputs
    • screw terminals
    • Variable low-pass filter (50-300 Hz, 12 dB/octave)
    • CEA-2006 compliant amplifier
    • Frequency response: 20-20,000 Hz

    750 Watt RMS
    Poly Injected Cone
    Stamped Steel Basket
    2" Dual Voice Coils
    Effeciency: 95 dB
    Frequency Response: 25Hz-2kHz
    Dual 4 Ohm
    Mounting Depth: 6-3/16"

I'm sure they're wired in correctly. New wires and connectors. Box is completely sealed. No bass boost from the deck. Would any of you have any idea why it's doing this? Is the amp under/over powering the subs? Are they just not compatible?
