I have a potential money saving tip for any fellow R3Vers who are still buying the pieces for their cabrio subwoofer system.
I wanted the 4ohm DVC Kickers, and the cheapest I could find them brand new was $100/ea.
I found a website called onlinecarstereo that had an older model 07CVR8 listed for $80/ea and decided to go with that.
When the package showed up today, they sent the newer model, 10CVR8 instead.
So basically I saved $20/ea on the speakers.
No guarantee that if you order them they will send the same, but maybe worth a try.

Either of the 2 lowest end (Comp and CompVR) Kickers will work. The better one is also available as a DVC and has better power handling, so there is some flexibility as far as impedance goes.

The "VT" stands for "Very Thin", there is plenty of mounting depth available.

I was communicating with Grizz Archer about adapting the new Soundstream "Nano" 8" to this design. Should be about $80ish apiece and will handle an honest 300 watts each, easily. Unfortunately, it looks like it might be a while until those come out.

in the meantime, the RE 8" is on closeout: http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...roducts_id=785

If the Qts were a bit higher, I would have no issue using that woofer. Might be a bit flatter in the upper bass, but should boom pretty solid...for those who just don't want a kicker.

BTW, we have 1 black 'vert box ready to ship right now. That would be the first one we have built that was not pre-sold...so if you are on the fence, jump on this one.

    Luke

^^ good point, when you say 'Kicker Comp' are you referring to the 'Comp', 'Comp VR' or 'Comp VT' 8" for this setup?

Is Kicker 10CVR84 the right speaker to use for this box? Please, help me out, guys! I have absolutely no clue about speakers or sound systems.
    Thanks!

We spent the day shipping stuff out that we could not ship due to damn stupid AT&T choking our internet so bad that PayPal would not load.

The "vert boxes are still on the tablesaw, but should be ready to go shortly...then, E28 12's...then POWER TOP VERT BOXES!
