Unplug the fader harness fro the fader and unwrap it until the blue and yellow wires fall out of the harness completely.

You have a serious oddball, one I have never seen in person.

Your car has an adapter that allows use of later BMW radios. It is kinda hacked together, but clearly the intent was to use a later radio.

Kind of a shame too, as had the installer taken apart (unwrapped) that stock deck harness and fader harness, they would have found the wires they need.

So I gather you now have a couple sets of Infinity speakers and you want to install them. What deck do you have and what year/model is the car?

That's why I'm so incredibly confused, I have no idea what the PO did. It had a CD43 (or the earlier one) when I bought the car, I bought the e36 adapter and spliced it to the new headunits harness. The headunit is a Kenwood KDC-255U. I got the Infinity Reference Speakers and I figured that I might as well do it right and fix the wiring the first time instead of using it as is and risking blowing em. The car is a 1988 635CSI.

Yes, it is in this thread.

Simple enough though, show me all the colors you find in the harness AFTER you unwrap about 18" so the yellow and blue wires are free.

Jason, it would be good to have all 4 speakers running off the deck directly, meaning no fader.

If anything, you are losing half your power or more.

In an E24, if you do it properly, you can run new wires to the front speakers pretty easily and then you can re-purpose the grounds so the rears are isolated.

    This would be fine.

Or Rockford Primes. Polk DB is nice but power hungry.

Sonic is a solid outfit with good prices.

Also there was already an adapter harness when I wired my kenwood in (it had an e36/e34 harness wired in) and my fader still works, so that means all my grounds are together and my + are connected from the speakers to the fader and from the fader to the head unit. I'd realllllllly reallllllly reallllllly rather not have to rewire anything. From what I heard, the fader isnt good for the hu so should I bypass it?

    Luke where ya at?
