Great, upside down triangle is the position :p

BTW, what kind of adhesive you use, I got one from O Rally for like $3 and how long you leave it on before mounting your mirror?

Thank you again any "all finish" picture?;)

Ignore the red wire. I didn't have enough fingers to get it out of the way. :-)

So in the picture from left to right the first one is solid purple, the second one is grey with purple stripe and the third one is purple with grey stripe. The last 2 are hard to identify but not impossible. The stripe is a thin line on 2 opposite sides on the wire. You need a good flashlight and you can tell the difference.

I took a second look at the picture I took and even in that picture they look the same... The wire has more of the base color than the stripe color. I can't really come up with a better explanation.
BTW you need the purple wire with grey stripe.
Thanks, so I basically need the third wire and the ground (brown) from the map light...thanks...now I need to figure out the wire from the mirror :p

    BTW, picture of the mount?

Any luck on your reinstallation of the mirror?

Well I would rather think about this another way. I don't know what you will open with the homelink but let's say it is your garage door. You have your car parked in there. If someone wants to take your car they can just push the button on the mirror and the door is open without needing to use the keys. Or if you parked it on the driveway they can get into your house with an ease.

I don't think it will drain your battery. It doesn't require much power for stand by. Finding the wire that powers the check panel is really not difficult. That's the only wire with that color and it's also a bit thicker than the rest IIRC.

One last thing, do you think drawing power (the +12V) from the reading light (or map light) will have any problem? I just think it's easier to wire from light then the check penal. Or will doing this route make it constantly "on" instead of ignition on only and make the mirror (the dimming part) drain the battery?

The cutout by your thumb is facing down (south).

I went to a BMW dealer to get another mirror mount base plate, when I came home, they are 99% the same (same shape just minor detail is different, not affecting the mounting in anyway)...now I wonder, what is the alliament when I re-glue the plate...
