Yeah, that crap split wire loam is ugly and stupid... I unwound the e-tape (the tape got all sticky and nasty) and crap loam off my Corvette harness... ugh

BMW wraps their wires really nice in comparison.

I use Super 33 for insulating connections and Temflex for wrapping harnesses. If you want to be a baller you can use Tesa tape for wrapping harnesses, it's what the European manufacturers use from the factory.

Bat handle or Hockey Stick...same black sticky cloth stuff, I bet. I was confused, I thought friction tape was non-adhesive, and the wiki does say it is typically sticky on both sides while this stuff is not. Is yours sticky on both sides? The stock stuff I have gotten from the dealer 20 years ago was sticky on both sides, like in the wiki, that is why I prefer the stuff I get.

if its done properly and not in ridiculous colors it looks fine. Why does wire need a waterproof covering? That friction tape stuff from the factory can't be waterproof.

I like the stretch and it seems to seal out moisture better

Heat and moisture will surely make electrical tape fail over a few years. If I was doing my engine harness, I would not wrap in electrical tape at all. it will make a huge sticky mess.

    ^Yup, friction tape.
When it comes off it does not make a TOTAL mess like standard electrical tape will.
And it smells like pine trees!

However, for underhood wiring especially, I prefer to use hockey stick tape from Big 5 (or any other sporting goods store, I am sure). I think the cloth is a better choice and it seems to stick well and hod up nicely.

GL and oh yeah...have fun with that
