so i saw in bav auto catalog that Blaupunkt is now making HU's specifically for old BMWs.... I haven't done much research on them but they look OK and have several models from a basic model to a super-featurey one. Any one else see this?

Yeah it does. I use the aux input for my mp3 player.

Not my image, but the Nakamichi CD-500 fits the BMW well. The display colors are changeable, I use the red/amber as shown here, and it perfectly matches the red/amber in the car. Its too bad its gloss face vs matte, but it works for me. Sounds great too.

Yes, I agree on that too! It comes with no preamp outputs at all 😩.
But it sounds better than my oem radio that came on my 92 cabrio.

I run a JVC x50bt. Super simple head unit with only USB and aux, but also contains great features like Bluetooth and bt audio, sub outs and some useless 9band digital eq. Looks great and allows full color control. About 25 colors, including OUR AMBER COLOR. I've seen a lot o eadubitsbwith the amber lights on this thread, but the amber in our cars is darker then others I have seen. Almost a red.

Well this is what i have decided upon. Yet to install but for half price at a sale and with illumination that is "close" to factory and options i will use i am quite happy.
