Strange Aftermarket Stereo Problem, Distortion when Recirculation button is off

Like the title says, I've had this very strange stereo issue arise. It gets distorted or staticy whenever I have the radio on, however when I have the climates air recirculation button on, it goes away. Any ideas? I followed Lukes guide for an install for the radio. 1987 325iS with Premium Sound with a Pioneer Headunit.

ENDED UP BEING A BUTTON ISSUE..THANKS ALL

I would first suspect a bad ground. If good and connected to solid brown wire or chassis ground, then make sure your power connections are good and connected to the dedicated radio memory and power wires.

I think that was exactly the issue. I realized I never did solder them, just twist and heat shrink. I added a Sub recently and had the wires shift a bit and it went away, thank you!
