I have very limited knowledge/experience with radios but I would like to get mine working again. Currently, the stock headunit puts out poor reception with a lot of distortion and whenever I adjust the volume I get a lot of loud, painful static.
A friend was looking at it and declared it a loose ground within the radio, as opposed to my diagnosis which was shot old speakers.
Does this sound like the cause of the problem? I was going to try and pick up a new (to me) original headunit (they're not exactly expensive,) but don't want to do that if it's not my issue.
