I have read LOTS of threads and haven't come across a thread that gets to an actual fix. My 3rd brake light isn't work and here are the things I've done to try and get it going. My tail lights work just not the 3rd. I need to pass inspection and Texas now requires 3rd brake lights. I am pre-1994 so if I remove it actually will pass but thought I'd ask first.

New Bulbs
Cleaned contracts of socket
Cleaned male ends of wiring
Inspected solder on 3rd BL panel
Checked brake light fuse
Traced to behind the locking mechanism for cuts with nothing found

Does anyone have any pictures of where the wiring goes to across the back end of the car? Any other tips on this? Does the 3rd go into the tail light?
