You have a 4 banger, so it's not going to sound that deep. But try a Thrush chambered muffler on it or maybe a Hooker aero flow muffler.

    Cut off the exhaust completely.
It sounds good. No, really it does.

You still go to highschool. Befriend one of the shop kids who know how to weld by talking about your bmw exhaust... Get him to help. Or do the super teenage thing and buy two glasspacks and two exhaust clamps....

    Lololololol.

Legal modified exhaust? Never heard of one.

Scale of 1-5 difficulty. For you 5.

Unless your good at cutting & welding that exhaust won't be held on by hopes & dream. Unlike a Honda e30 exhaust aren't typically flanged.

First thing you need is to set yourself a budget. With out knowing how much your able to spend I could show you anything from 50-700$.

You should focus on basic maintenance, before adding the teenage go fast goodies.

No dissrespect I was you once :) welcome to the R3v. Don't forget your flame suit & make sure your skin is thick.

Would like advice on a loud exhaust

    Hey guys,

I'm a really new member to the e30 family, as well as a young car owner. I'm 6 months away from my 16th birthday, and just like every other teenager in the world, I would like a louder exhaust.

What kinds of exhausts/mufflers/whatever else would you recommend to get a low rumble that's still within the legal decibel limit? Also, although it's not a top priority, I would like something a little bigger than what I have. I don't know if that's a small change or what, but I am not fond of the thin exhaust pipes.

Lastly, would these be things you would recommend doing on my own? On a scale of 1-5, 5 being have someone professional do it, and 1 being do it in my driveway, how difficult/complex would you rate working with my exhaust.

Once again, I apologize for my embarrassing lack of knowledge. I'm learning, I promise.
