Just buy the book, it will be worth it'w weight in gold and prevention of busted knuckles.

Yah, I will when I can afford it. Ive actually got the digital copy but need to find a mac proggie to open it.
Did a valve adjustment today to no avail. That leaves me with o2 sensor (a pricey little fucker), dist. cap and rotor...

Definitely borrow a timing light and set it correctly. The M10 in my E21 ran like crap if it was even 2 degrees off time. You can rent one from Autozone for free.

Yea def needs a good tune up. I was getting around 20mpg driving like a grandma.
I seafoam'd, new air filter, new cap & rotor, new sparkplugs/wires, oil change. Now she runs like a champ & I'm getting about 34 highway. still need to do a vavle adjustment & see if I can sqeeze out another mpg or two.

That's definitely not right. I get roughly 27mpg because I flog it and it needs a tune up as well.

Trust me, I learned the hard way, dropped > $1000.00 on trying to get my 318i to run right, replaced almost every electronic component trying to get a hunting idle to go away.

It can be a big part. Run the correct plugs, not the ones some guy at AutoZone suggests...
