My son has a 325e with two problems that have me somewhat baffled. The car is a very nice '86 with an automatic, which he wants to keep, so don't bother with telling us it should be swapped out.
Problem one is that when the car is in third gear, it vibrates loudly, worse when under load than not, and more gear dependent than speed, as it doesn't do it in second or fourth. The car has replaceable u joints front and rear that look fine, have not removed the exhaust to check the center bearing yet...
Problem two, after lowering the car, the steering no longer returns to center. Drives fine, just pulls some in whichever direction it was last turned hard... Have replaced the two washers under the upper guide support...
Not wanting to throw parts at it, hoping for some of the really knowledgeable folks here to help us out please.
