"Bavarian Engine - Void if Removed" seal on head OR tracing my engines history

I removed my engine last week and discovered it is not the original engine that came in the car. The back of the block above the bellhousing has "91 325i 4dr E30" written in yellow crayon (my car is a 2dr) as well as 6 digits that could possibly be the last 6 of the vin of the car it came from.

I also noticed that the back of the cylinder head there is a round metal seal, attached with some adhesive, making it look like one of those wax seals on an envelope:

Which says "Bavarian Engine - Void if Removed"

I am assuming this means the engine, or at least the head, was purchased from Bavarian Engine Exchange. I would guess that it was purchased as one of their used engines that they test and sell since I don't see the "Bavarian CNC" engraved on the side of the head like I see on the ported heads on their website.

There is also the serial number on the bottom of the block, drivers side, just behind the engine mount arm. Is this serial number supposed to match the number stamped on the firewall to the right of the vin stamp?

I think it would be neat to find someone that has CarFax and try to estimate how many miles this engine has on it based on the last registered mileage of the car it came from and when it may have taken residence in my car.

That's my M20 related CSB for the evening.
