Cold start

hi, I'm new here recently just bought a '89 325i and today snow came, I tried to warm up the car, I started the car without revving or anything just turned the key, and leave it for a couple minutes the car died, and I noticed that this the second time that happen, so after the that I try to start the car it won't turn over, I mean not even crank.
while the car is running its only ~700 rpm the whole time.

so can any one tell me what is wrong or if it just normal.
