    Stomp test = constant flashing.

    Hey guys,

A couple of days ago the CEL came on in my newly acquired 1988 325is. I've noticed it's been idling funny/stuttering a little bit when at stoplights, etc. Yesterday I was picking up a friend to take some pictures and when I was idling in front of his house it just died. Started up okay, but later in the day it intermittently had trouble - it would crank for about 3-4 seconds and then fire up. Other times it would fire right up no problem.

After multiple attempts of the stomp test, it has just given me a constant flashing. No codes or anything. I'm not really sure what's up. The night I purchased the car I did a stomp test to see if anything was stored, 1444 = no faults.

According to the previous owner, there's an "Autowerks performance chip" installed, not sure if this could be the culprit or not. I'm not very experienced in engine tuning.

If you guys might have any ideas, lay them on me.
