Hi,
I recently purchased an e30 and the engine runs really well and sounds pretty smooth. It sounds like it may need a valve adjustment but not urgent. I replaced the timing belt and the water pump. One issue I've been having is it sometimes starts slow. It cranks fine but I have to hold the key and let it crank for around 3-5 seconds before it starts. It's never not started however. Also, when I'm driving with about 50-70% throttle, the engine kind of bogs. It almost feels like the transmission is shifting up and down really fast as if it's not sure which gear to be in. Or, I guess it kind of feels like the engine is bogging and the rpm jumps from 2-3000rpm or 3-4000rpm depending how fast I was driving. The car is an automatic btw.
Does anybody have any tips on what I should be checking for?
My guess is it's something to do with the fuel system (fuel pump or filter perhaps?).
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jason
