    Piston Hot Spots

Just in terms of general discussion, I had a friend of mine that builds engine look at my pistons one night (since I was disassembling it and all) and he noticed the sharp edges on the top of the piston.

When he saw this, he said that could be a cause for hotspots, and cause pinging when compression is high or boost is high.

Now, I asked someone else - and he said just to leave it - bad idea to mess with it.

My friend suggested smoothing out the sharp edges - I think it's best to leave them. They were designed that way for a reason.

Just wondering what everyone else thought of this? Nonsense or no?
