I am working on a friend's 8/88 build date E30 325i coupe. The car came to him with the engine almost ready to come out. For some reason the engine harness was rather cobbled up where stuff went to and around the injectors. The 7 pin round plug from the DME harness to the injector harness was cut and replaced with spade connectors. I procured another 325i harness (or so it was claimed) but it had different issues in other areas of it. So, here is what has stopped me dead in my tracks. The 7 pin round plug is just that, and where the same wires come out of the main harness of the donor harness there indeed 7 differently color coded wires. The harness from the harness in that car has SIX and may have some different color codes.

Are all M20 325is engine harnesses the same? (Realoem is showing different numbers for different years)
Are all M20 325is injector harnesses the same?
I will be looking at on line wiring diagrams as the Bentley manual seems to not have any.
