    Hesitation problem 85 325e

I have a feeling this will be an ongoing thread as i try and get this car running right.
    Break down:
    85 325e 160k miles
Problem: Running very rich dumping thick black smoke, intermittent fuel pump whine. Revs to about 2k cuts out and sounds like engine will shut off, if i press the gas slowly and floor it it will hesitate and then rev very hard to redline, has problems maintaining any given rpm besides idle.

    I have changed/checked:
    IACV
    ECU
    Cleaned mass air flow sensor
Checked boot/hoses for intake leaks - When i pulled the intake boot there was raw fuel in it?? I'm thinking maybe the cold start valve is open. If i disconnect it the car does the same thing.

Now this is interesting, i have to buy a spark plug socket tomorrow and i will try changing the plugs. Messing around i swapped the order of the top 2 wires on the distributor, the car dumped less black smoke and wasn't misfiring as bad (i listened to the exhaust) it was still doing it but the smoke turned white. Do you think maybe the firing is out of order? Would that cause the problems im having or maybe it's a compound problem? Any input is greatly appreciated and i thank you if you've read this far into my post.

Also i don't have a bentley yet, is there one online i can look at??

    Thanks,
    -Azad
