s52 baby!!! i have one in my e30, and its amazing, i have b/t 285-290hp at the crank(still need it dyno'd), but then again it is an expensive project compared to m30 turbo, u have more potential with a turbo, but u will also get horrible gas mileage...i'm gonna turbo my shit next year and that will cream an m30 turbo any day baby!!! :firehop: good luck makin ur descision, good idea to swap either way, but u could also turbo the m20 for dirt cheap, i've seen people put crazy numbers up doing that...but like most of the other posts im biased cuz i love over 280 naturally aspirated horsepower, my shit kills most cars!!!

As I said earlier, please share your turbo setup and specs, as I am mulling it around right now. Turbo M30E30 FTW. I'd love to do it in a touring :)

I have an M30 now and can't get enough of it. I"m going to turbo it running around 9psi. You will fuckin cream your pants after driving an M30 turbo. IMHO, go with the M30, but then again i'm biased. To each's own

The M50 is probably a little more straight forward, but the M30 can use the factory E30 wiring harness, possibly the stock driveshaft, and only requires a few modifications to the firewall (with a hammer) to fit in the furthest back position on the e30.de mounts. Seriously, if you like effortless driving and torque, the M30 is titties.

    m30 hands down:)

expect this answer for posting this question in the m30 section. You would get a different answer for asking the same q in the s50 subforum.
