You may better off using the early M30B32 cam, it's 272 duration instead of ~264.

Very nice though! Im hoping to cam my M90B35 as soon as I get the rest of the shit done... Do you have details on your exhaust setup? Im still not sure what I want to do...

    I´ve used a M90B35 the ´80 euro L block
with a 5.**KG flywheel it is alot of fun,
It used a B35 engine management and is very nice,

    Now I´m building a
    L block 3.5 using a B35 cam, standalone
double valve springs (original M90 + M42 inner springs)
shaved head should be 10.5 compression,
this will be about 230-240hp or so,

Well, you when you bleed the system, you have to physically hold the coolant tank up to your shoulders when bleeding so it's gravity bled. It's much easier doing it that way. I honestly thinkthat the M30 engine bleeding screw is virtually useless here. You need to fool around with it, but i've bled mine twice and it's been fine both times. Just keep that coolant reservior as high as possible. Then when you're done, put the top on and THEN lower the tank into position.

I have a '92 M30B35 in mine... but I'm having overheating issues. Is it true that these M30s need a LOT of bleeding before the cooling system works as it should?

It's only 8 degrees C outside and the car is slightly running hot and there's a distinct smell of coolant seeping in to the passenger compartment, even though my a/c fan is wired directly to the accessory switch.

    Help?

M30b35 from an E34 which is being run by an Emerald stand alone ECU
    Head is ported/flowed
Ported inlet manifold to match the head
    Ported exhaust manifolds
    Schrick 284/280
Bottom end replaced with an Alpina B10 N/A lump which means i've got oil piston squirters, M5 con rods(stronger for higher revs) and Mahle/Alpina pistons which raise the C/R to around 10.5:1 from 9.0:1 of the standard M30b35 and are also lighter i think ?
Scorpion SS E30 M3 exhaust with home made X-pipe
Intake : No AFM with a big k+n cone filter tucked behind the head light, soon to be replaced by a BMC CDA filter
No dizzy cap or rotor arm, replaced by a Ford V6 coil pack runing in wasted spark type ignition

It needs a remap to optimize my mods and to see what sort of power it's making now a days

Mapping will be done after i've finally got around to fitting the twin TB and BMC air filter

(inlet manifold has been de-seamed and will be painted in the same VHT wrinkle as the rocker cover)

Got to lower the engine about 5mm to give me clearance between the throttle mech'(black plastic thing) and the bonnet.

Even with the motor in position III (mine is too btw) it's only like half an inch further back than position II, and sadly that is nowhere near enough to negate the weight of the AC system (~70lbs with all the shit together, maybe more... it was around 85lbs in my Alfa). But whatever man, if you want AC at the expense of a little bit of handling, its all good, you will still enjoy the car a whole lot with that M30 up front!

hmm you could have a point there, I'm from upstate, ny so i'm no stranger to humidity. If you want A/C, then go for it, but it's going to bog down the power of the engine and it's going to be heavier weight in a very forwardmost position on the car.

You could get about $100 for that whole complete A/C system if you sell it. put it toward a chip or something. Think about it!

Oh yeah, and euroshark is right. get rid of the A/C man!. Open the windows and listen to the purr of that M30
haha we'll see this is the 1st car I've owned where the Ac actually works ;) ... no A/C in 100 degree + temps suck balls and oklahoma heat usually has alot of humidity with it..so windows down or not you're still gonna roast in ya car ;) the M30 only weighs 57 more lbs than the m20..258 vs 315lbs...and with the motor in pos III *sits the motor further back than the m20* i don't think the handling will be neg affected

Be a man and ditch the AC like the rest of us!!

Ok, so I don't know if they ditched it, but I did... to offset the 55 extra pounds of man motor and transmission!

I don't have to change anything with the AC system when Im doing the motor swap right? I know I won't have any space for a fan clutch which is why Im going to run an electric fan and possibly re-wire the condenser fan to come on with the car is started and not just the a/c...you're right she gets a workout on the ramps and in parking lots when autocross season is in...
have you taken your 335 to the track and got some 1/4 mile times and mph?

I think that your 88 325is with the M20 alone is like 53/47 stock. When you add an extra 100lbs in the front, it's going to be even more favorable toward the front. If you put A/C in there with a heavy front mount compressor and evaporator, you're talking about like 60/40. But like you said, if it's your daily driver, then you aren't really going to push it enough to notice much (except on and off ramps on the highway).

The z3 shifter is fine for the swap, just watch your rubbing your shift rod on your driveshaft. If you have to bend the shift rod, then go for it.

You have A/C in that car with the M30 in it? daaam, you must have a really frontheavy car
i still have my m20 in right now, but even when i do add my m30 Im keeping A/C because this will still be my DD...I'm going to use engine position #3 so the Lbs balance of my car should still be close to 50/50 or 49/51 atleast..I was having power steering woes and got pissed off and cut the belt off so I may just continue to run without it..the front end is pretty light and I do like how much more road feel you get without power steering

I haven't tuned it yet, I will do that soon. As far as the clutch goes. Do you think I'm going to have clutch problems? I really don't wanna take my tranny out because it's a Biotch to get to and damn near impossible to remove/install. Do you think I'll have problems if:

I stick with my stock E28 sachs clutch? Maybe, just maybe the only problems i'll have is with the tires, NOT at the clutch..
are you running an aftermarket flywheel or stock? can you shave a flywheel down for the m30? I running a stock flywheel that i had shaved down to 14lbs *wanted a safe range so only took off 5lbs* and i love it.. she revs so much faster now and I can even run the A/C on and not feel like its sapping all the power....I have a z3 shifter in right now I can still use that for my swap right?
