any tips on removing the selector shaft seal getrag 260

hey guys I'm in the middle of replacing all of the shifter bushings and I'm at the point where everything in the way of removing the selector shaft seal gone.
I tried for about an hour last night before I called it quits.
The tranny is still in the car.
but I did lower it about 3 inches to give myself a little more room.

any tips or a plan of attack?
    thanks.

these pics are of me working on a 240 trans but I expect it to be similar to your 260. yeah- the selector one gave me a hard time too.. be careful not to make scratches in the housing.

install the new one right over the top of the old one and push the old one inside. it wont actually go inside but rather further in the case. simple and double seal. saves a lot of fucking around

mostly- i took that small screwdriver, squirmed it in on the shaft side, pushed it in enough to catch on the seal- and pried it out while mangling the fuck out of it. I think it took me like 20 minutes.

About to do the selector seal on my iX. Should I really just push the old one in deeper? I want to be sure before I create a nightmare.

Nando is right It only works on the selector seal. There is room for 3 in there. But you never know how many are in there.

Never done this before, but maybe if you have a bunch, stick a fishing hook into them and yank them out? Those are meant to go into something and not come out. No clue if that would work though...
