I have an M90B35 and Close Ratio (CR) Getrag 265 from a 1980 Euro 635csi. As always, plans change and this combo will not be going into my E30 any time soon. I will, however, be doing a pretty big overhaul of my E30's suspension/driveshaft stuff later this summer, so I started thinking:
1) The CR 265 won't just bolt up to an M20, will it? Pretty sure M30/M90 transmissions don't bolt up to M20s, right?
2) Some iteration of the M20 came with a transmission with a removable bellhousing, if I recall correctly. Think I've the bellhousings for sale before. What model is that bellhousing from? Can I do M20 > M20 bellhousing only > CR 265 transmission only?
3) Assuming that M20 > M20 bellhousing > CR 265 works, will it all work properly in my E30, i.e. shifter will line up properly, etc? For a short shifter setup will I need to look for standard E30 solutions, stuff specific to the CR 265 (i.e. E24 solutions), or some sort of 50/50 hybrid?
