Helping a buddy swap out discovery axles trans and transfer case into his old range rover (dont ask why.. I think its a waste of time)
The trans is a 4hp just like BMW uses. Im pretty sure I spun and pushed the converter for about a half hr to make sure it seated into the oil pump.. BUT with everything installed I cycle through all the gears and have nothing.. Crack a cooler line with the engine running and no pressurized trans oil comes out.. trans oil level is ok.. we checked both the stick and tube from the range rover and the donor vehicle and they are both the same length
It would seem like IF I didnt get the converter seated all the way in, then it would be pushing against the flexplate, almost trying to bend it forward, no?
When I unbolt the converter from the flexplate I can freely spin the converter, It barely touches the flexplate.
I even resorted to unbolting the bellhousing and sliding the trans back to be able to get my hands on the converter and try and push it in further but it feels like its all the way in.
Can anyone take a photo through that lower inspection hole and show me how far the converter is pushed in in a normal situation? The converter should be the same as an E30 setup
The transmission worked before we took it out of the donor vehicle. My buddy drove it to the shop.
Have I ever mentioned I hate Land Rovers?
