E34 520i diff with medium case E30 cover in E30?

I heard that you can take an e34 520i diff and put it in an e30 by using the cover plate of the e30 medium case diff. What else should I swap over?
PS. I'm doing this because the e34 diff has a better final drive than my medium case e30 diff and I dont want the hassle of switching the internals.
