Hey everybody,
I hope this is the right section so here goes.
So my dad's car (85 325e) was running good earlier today and we're just driving around.
Later on, we were going to go somewhere, but all of a sudden, as we were driving, our 1st gear went out. He kept trying and I noticed that it didn't want to go anywhere past 1750 RPMs.
So I say, "try shifting at lower RPMs."
So thats what he did...Then same thing happened again!!
This time it was closer to 1500 RPMs...
Third gear, the same thing happened, but with the RPMs less than 1500.
I think this is where it started.
Last week, he steam cleaned his engine at the dealership.
Cool, we thought.
On the way home, whenever he shifted to 2nd gear, there's no power, but it caught on after a second.
The same thing happened on 3rd gear.
After a few hours, the car worked perfectly again.
Then today, the first half of my post happened.
Has this ever happened to anybody and if so, what was the problem with your car?
If you have any idea of what the problem could be, please give me your input!
Thanks in advance!
