Shifter Modification?

Is there anything one could do or modify to a getrag 260's shifter to simulate a short shifting kit without spending hundreds of dollars?

If not, is there a SSK for an e30 for under $100 that is decent quality?

That just replaces the stock one and voila you have a short shifter? Or are there any other conversion parts necessary?

You don't have to replce anything except the shifter itself. The Z3 shifter does move the shifter quite a bit forward, but I prefer it...I think.

You will want to replace ALL of the shifter bushings though, as they get really nasty and sloppy after 20 years.
