Going to test fit the b40 timing components on b44 block this weekend.
Need to remove the b40 chain sprocket and put it on the b44 crank.
Also, will test fit the b40 oil pump on the b44 as my longblock didn't come with a pump :/
Then need to compare/measure the b40 vs b44 head gaskets and finally test fit the b40 heads onto b44 block.

Yeah, that would have been a pretty good starting point, for good money. Even if you decided to go to the 5 speed instead, you could have recoup'ed 1/2 your money on selling off the 6 speed. Always guys looking for those...

Bottom end is just that now, block with crank/rods/pistons. We broke one craftsman breaker bar undoing the front crank bolt lol.
B40 valve covers are getting tanked/blasted, now I have two oil pans and two sets of valve covers to play with.
Next is to test fit the obd1 timing components from the b40 onto b44 before making a long list of parts to order.Leave a comment:

Yeah, even at $500 for an 80K B44, it's still stupid cheap. These are pretty bulletproof motors, so anything under 150K is a good starting point. Hell, the M60B40 in my E34 has 285K on it and it still has a couple hundred thousand left in it, lol!

Crossing my fingers for a nice one to pop up here in pull-a-part again, when I'll actually have the fundsLeave a comment:

$127? Nice... mine was free, so I win
but you're a very close second. That's stupid money for an 80K M62B44...
