OK, so I'm trying to salvage the speedometer on my $800 325ix I have screwed up. Can anyone of you E30 speedometer guru's help me out? While trying to replace the small 12 tooth gear, I put much pressure on and the shaft slipped. On disassembly of the motor, I can't determine if the silver disk is supposed to be secured to the small gear shaft. I have included pictures of the silver disk partially removed so you can see what I'm talking about. 2nd question, would anyone have an undamaged speedo motor I could buy so I can get another small gear shaft assembly, Thanks for any help.
