i would definetly change out the oil before starting it up. change the fuel lines and the filter. do a fuel pressure test afterwards to see if there is anything else blocking the lines.

you need to buy a guage. or rent one if such a facility exists near you(i dont have that luxury)

I fired up an M20 in an E30 after sitting for over 2 years without doing anything other then charging the battery..... it ran fine and started right up...

If i had planned to keep the engine, i would have shortly followed that run with all the maintainance stuff(oil, oil filter, timing belt, fuel lines, fuel filter, etc) but i dumped it for an M50.. lol
