Just picked up a 1986 320i project car (and a 1984 320i as a parts car to fuel the project! - everything between these two motors is nearly the same)
Problem:
When the key is turned to 'On' position (all the instrument panel lights up etc...) there is a continual 'hissing' noise from the back of the car (sounds like its from the underside.) I'm assuming it's the fuel pump, as I can't think of any other electrical things back that far... Does the fuel pump normally turn on when the car is 'on'' - and is the fact that I can hear it just because it's on it's last legs?
Thanks in advance.
