    My Door locks are POSSESSED!?

    So...... this is the problem,

    I have a 1989 325i e30. 2 door.

When i lock my door from the outside (driver side door), both the driver side and passenger side doors will lock then unlock right away. But if I lock the door from the passenger side, both will stay locked no problem.

I can lock the passenger side door by hand, shut it, then lock the driver side door with my key, and it will stay locked on both sides.

Any idea what is going on with my locks? Should I call a priest?

consider yourself lucky that you even have responding door locks...After searching all over r3v, e30 tech and bimmer forums...

I seriously think I am one of the VERY few verts with non-central locks....

My locks are both stubborn to the point they turn and do nothing, the trunk doesn't have a central unit and the only lock that works is my trunk.

sounds like a bad relay or something on the driver side btw lol..if it only happens on the driver side I'd say more then likely its something on the driver side throwing it back into unlock

There is a slew of problems related to locks, do a quick search in google about lock problems and a lot should pop up. I think you may have to take the door card off and adjust some rod.

Also in the DIY section there is a guide on doing keyless entry which is something that you could do while you are fixing the locks.

mine does this. mice had eaten my wires in the trunk on the driver's side behind the plastic molding. the wires are bare and when they touch, auto lock or unlock, all the time. just separate and retape them.

i found that my passenger front door had a binding rod that was stuck by someone pulling up on it too much, causing it to get suck.

also another time this happened to me was because one of the door handles were stuck "ajar"

with your drivers door open, does your central locking do the same thing??? The central locking on a e30 is setup so you can't lock the car with the drivers door with it open... most of the problems we have had turned out to be the plugs at the front of the door jamb, take the rubber boot off and press the two ears in and pull the male part of the plug out, then WD40 the heck out of both parts... clean all corrosion and check your dome light switch, if the system thinks your door is open, it will lock and then imediately unlock your locks..
                  good luck
